Children and young people are a very important part of the St. Andrew’s community. In addition to Sunday School and Youth Choir, we also have several programs for youth of all ages.
Confirmation
A two-year confirmation program is offered for youth who have entered 7th grade. Utilizing a web-based interactive curriculum, confirmation classes are taught by Pastor Anderson and they meet on Sundays after church and some evenings. At the end of two years (a year of studying the Bible and a year of studying Luther’s Catechism) youth are invited to Affirm their Faith in the rite of Confirmation, which is celebrated on Reformation Day.

Service
Youth are invited to participate in a number of service projects each year, including participating in: gathering items for local agencies who serve people in need, gathering of items for Lutheran World Relief School Kits, Health Kits and Layettes and gathering offerings for ELCA World Hunger Fund.

ELCA Youth Gathering
Every three years our youth join 30,000 Lutheran youth in a large city for a week in the summer. We engage in service work requested by the city, gather to hear cutting edge speakers, lively bands, worship together, and grow in faith. We went to Houston in 2018. Unfortunately, we have just learned that the 2022 gathering in Minneapolis has been canceled due to the ongoing pandemic. Learn more here!
